Scatter
Place acorns to match all counts
Scatter is a placement puzzle where you position acorns on a 9×9 grid to match the required counts for each row, column, and colored region. It combines elements of Sudoku-style logic with spatial reasoning.
Rules
Click cells to place or remove acorns. Each cell either has an acorn or is empty.
Numbers on the left show how many acorns each row must have. Place exactly that many in each row.
Numbers on top show how many acorns each column must have.
Each colored region has a required acorn count. Satisfy all three types of constraints to win.
Strategies & Tips
Start with Extremes
Rows/columns with 0 acorns are easy: mark all cells empty. High counts (like 8 in a 9-cell row) mean almost everything is filled.
Cross-Reference Constraints
A cell belongs to a row, column, AND region. Use all three counts together to narrow down possibilities.
Use Process of Elimination
If a row needs 2 more acorns and has only 2 empty cells, both must have acorns. Mark them!
Check Region Boundaries
Regions that span multiple rows can help link constraints together. A region needing 1 acorn limits options significantly.
